The first recorded recipe for mujaddara appears in Kitab al-Tabikh, a cookbook compiled in 1226 , There are so many variations of the recipe that has been handed down over generations.

  1. Pre Heat the pot
  2. Drizzle of Olive Oil
  3. Fry onion until slightly golden keep mixing then add in the lentils three cups of water
  4. Add the Lebanese mixed spices and salt to taste
  5. Allow to simmer fro 30-40 minutes on low heat
  6. Serve with mint and Onion best eaten in Lebanese bread or the option to eat with out bread
