Bringing community together through cooking
Teaching is Chef Daniel’s passion. He is absolutely committed to providing the ability for everyone to know how to cook and know how to prepare healthy food. Learning how to cook, learning how to pick ingredients, learning how to use kitchen utensils properly are all things that everyone should know or at least be something everyone has access to learn. The Chef Daniel Foodie Community was created for this reason.
Every month Chef Daniel is sharing this passion with programs run by the GWS Giants, an Australian Rules Football club in Western Sydney.
The Giants engage with their community and give back by supporting the youth of the local area. They also encourage integration in the community regularly hosting events with local schools and organisations. In April this year, Over 50 Year eight students from Malek Fahd Islamic School in Greenacre visited the GIANTS as part of the Oxanda nutrition and goal setting program.
Chef Daniel put on a cooking demonstration for Mexican cuisine with all the students watching on eager to learn. This was followed by Chef Daniel teaching the students how to prepare and cook all the ingredients without over cooking so that they learnt how to retain the vitamins and minerals.
All the kids then got to put the teaching into practice and prepared meals based on the training of Chef Daniel. It was Chef’s pleasure to attend and share in such a great day.
